Sites with activity, Comments, New posts, Pages. Tend to get noticed and in turn are rewarded with good standings. It is important to schedule time to add fresh information to your site.
For example, you could post 3-4 times a week and follow that pattern all the time and you will gain traction in the SERPS as long as you have quality content.
3. Social Media
The power of social media for promotional purposes is UN-matched. A solid social media presence is a must, however, do not be afraid to start fresh with new accounts.
Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Google Plus and Linkedin especially.
Start sharing useful information out, not just your posts but also other peoples information that you find interesting, it shows a bit more authenticity than just pounding out adds and offers constantly.
Share regularly but not too much that way people will eventually look for your information rather than blocking it.
Setup business accounts separate from your personal accounts. You may have many followers already but most will mute you or block your feeds if all you do is promote stuff to friends and family.
Having a business account allows you to invite your would be followers to show support by opting in to receive your information.
A good place to help get your social media cranked up is Crowdfire, a service that allows you to post on a schedule on multiple platforms at the same time and also provides a variety of topics for you to share.
4. Be Authentic and Engaging- Honest- Relevant
Honesty and relevancy will carry you to success in the online world if you use them as core principles for how you conduct business and share information.
Do not be afraid to be different or offer another opinion that may not be popular, that is OK because it helps show your authenticity which can lead to a solid following and foundation of support for your site.
Being relevant is key, people like to find the answer they are expecting when they clicked on your link to your page. Do not hijack readers with tricks and deception. You WILL struggle as a result.
Adding relevant images about your content is helpful. People like images and you get much more traffic as a result. Pixabay is where to find free images to use for your site.
5. Respond to Comments Promptly
When your valued readers leave a comment, favorable or not, it is important to respond and provide a solution or even just a thank you message to engage your readers.
Unless you have the answer to world hunger you will end up with comments that may or may not be favorable to your message. No worries, respond, stay positive and approve the comment as long as it meets your comment standards
The search engines love to see updated activity on your site and comments are “free content” that helps you rank and also brings credibility to your brand.
6. Appeal to Your Target Audience- Niche
You should have a target audience you are targeting with your information. Having too broad of a niche can have an adverse effect on your ranks as you may find it is competition heavy.
A narrower focus on your audience will actually sell better and provide longer termed success. For example- say your niche is “healthy food options”
That is a pretty broad niche so you can expect some competition. You could still get your message out and refine it a bit more like “Best Diet options for men over 50″ or ” Going Vegan for women” these are just examples, but you get the idea. Refine it and be relevant in the target audience you decide on and then own it and thrive.
7. Show And Teach
We all learn by different methods, however, it is usually way more efficient to “show someone” how to do something rather than just “tell them” about it.
For example, if you are explaining how to add a plugin to a WordPress website then you certainly can explain it in the text but also show the steps in screenshots or even a video if you are up to it.
Try not to just say buy this item today or continually sell to your readers. Nobody likes the pushy salesman, so try to teach your audience and the sales will come naturally as your brand authority grows and your readers trust you.

Let me show you how I use my favorite keyword tool to increase my rankings and website SEO.
Teaching will allow you to continue to have long termed success as you continue to learn and grow your website.
For another example, feel free to check out my post about SEO Keyword Competiton Analysis. I use a video to show how I found the keyword for that exact article.
8. Long Tail Keywords
Using long tail keywords will help drive traffic to you. What is a long tail keyword? well, lets go with keywords with more than one word in them, more like a phrase.
For example, if you are using Hypnosis as a keyword you could find one relating that may have some traffic but includes your word, like “Best hypnosis techniques for weight loss”
That gives you a way to include a keyword that will also bring in the other words as well called LSI keywords where you benefit from ranking in all related derivatives of your phrase. Like maybe from your phrase above the words ” the best techniques for weight loss” ranks well.
You will have a chance with that phrase as well even if it does not include the “hypnosis” keyword. It can be a bit confusing but when searching online for keywords, trying using short phrases to see what results show up
9. Quality Content Rules
It is important to provide value for your readers, not just an article stuffed with keywords, but something that makes sense and provides the information your visitors can use to find what they are looking for.
You may hear about content quality and think you need to be a prize-winning author, you don’t. Just share your message and be detailed and the quality will be there. No worries on that.
People make too much of a big deal about having to have perfect content online. It is false, you provide quality by being detailed in your message and providing value.
Yes it is important to have quality in your message but you certainly do not have to be afraid to write content. Everyone is different and we all communicate in one form or another. Just write like you are talking to a friend and you will do well.
10. Help People First
This may sound like a confusing message but it is very true. The most successful online marketers and blog owners provide information that helps people first, before selling something. It should be part of your core values as a business owner, show what you know and share it so others can learn.
You will benefit greatly in the long run and you will end up with a loyal following of readers and people that like your information, which will greatly improve your coverage and get your message out, which leads to increased traffic which then can result in revenue for you.
You may want to wait until you have the core of your site set up and have some content on it already before going down the Email Marketing route, but this, in the long run, will be one of the most important aspects of how you get your message to your readers which results in an increase in website traffic.
There are many email autoresponders out there today, most are very good platforms. Which is best? well, I leave that for you to decide for yourself. Having people on your mailing list is huge, they choose to be on it which means you are sending stuff to people that will be interested in what you are sharing.
Me? I use Aweber due to the simplicity of use and the fact that they give you access to the entire platform during a free trial. They are also pretty much the industry standard autoresponder service, so as my business grows, I will not have to change to a different provider.
Look into “Constant Contact” and “Get Response” as well. They have very good platforms to use as well.
You may think that some of these on this list will not increase traffic to your website, think again since you are building a foundation of success. The money will come once you lay the groundwork for it and stay true to your core principles and stay relevant with your message.
The methods I listed above can be done with little to no cost, just a regular habit of how you frame your content and get your message out. Some services have pay options but start with the free ones and see how they work for you
What methods do you use to increase your website traffic? pay per click, social media advertising? let me know in a comment below and we can share with others information that may be of value to them.
