Get Your Online Business Going From Your Living Room. Learn How To Earn Money From Home Online
Every day we hear about more ways to earn money online from home, weather it is from an online retailer or simply a website or blog or other options. The possibilities are everywhere. The key is to find ways to do this without being scammed or spending a ton of money for little to no value.
We have all seen the “can’t miss deal to make you money online” ad, or something similar. If it involves spending a great deal of money then it is most likely not the direction you want to start out with. Yes some are legit but there are as you know many scammers just trying to get you to pay for something that won’t help you learn what you need to know to be successful.
There are many ways to earn money from home online, some you may not realize and some I am sure you may be aware of. I have assembled a list of a few options for you to look at in considering how you will proceed in your journey to making a living online. This is not the be all end all list of options, but it is a place to start. There are many more creative ways to make a living online, but for now lets start with this list
The business model behind a Drop shipping business is as such.
You are the middle man between a buyer and a supplier of retail goods that you offer. The way it works is, someone finds your website that sell lets for example’ sake say Radar Detectors( I use this as an example because I did this myself a few years ago). You have an account with a supplier that gives you a discounted price for “your purchase”. I will explain your purchase in a minute
Say for example one Radar Detector costs you $23.99 from a supplier at a reduced cost. You advertise the same item on a website or blog. Normally you set the price you will sell it for, some suppliers however try to curb the scammers by recommending you keep it reasonable on your prices.
Someone finds your website and see’s that you have listed that same radar detector for $79.00, and they decide to purchase. What happens is, you buy a radar detector from your supplier for $23.99 and they ship it to the customer with your business name or on behalf of your business and you keep the difference from your cost and final sale price.
There are a few catches with this option. As well as a bonus
1. You need to have a relationship or account with a supplier that will ship to your customers for you. Yes you could go the route of having it delivered to you first, but that slows down the process of getting it to the customer which leads to a less than desirable customer experience.
2. You deal with returns or complaints about your items since the sale happen on your website. So you have to know what the return policy is of your supplier and also come up with your own policy. Just as an example part of the policy I used was “I pay for shipping to customer” the customer pays return shipping costs to me, because I have to ship it back to the supplier based on their return policy. Pretty standard return agreement
3. You need to know how to find suppliers for what you want to advertise. There are a few places to try to start with and I suggest you research them first before falling for a less than desirable deal with a supplier that may not be totally legit.
Worldwide Brands – This is the one I used for my business. A wholesale directory of Worldwide suppliers for about anything you can think of. There is a cost associated with them. A one time fee of $295 for a lifetime membership
Salehoo– Another great option for wholesale retailers- over 8000 verified legit merchants are in the directory with a reasonable membership cost depending on your needs, last time I checked it was $67 a year or $127 Lifetime access paid only once
AliExpress A lower cost option normally but also a bit shaky reputation from customers, so do your homework first, but you can find some good deals here that may save you money.
Doba– Another nice source for finding a supplier and setting up that relationship. They have a few different pricing plans. Check them out and see what works for you. Check out the “useful links” in the website footer for some additional great information
4. You do not need inventory or any overhead costs for warehousing, no need for packing and shipping supplies. You are the go between from the customer to the retailer. The customer only deals with you, not at all with the supplier directly.
You may be proficient at a skill or know how to use a specific program, this could make you money by Freelancing.
The net is full of people and companies looking for help without having to hire employees and pay benefits and so on, instead many online business owners are turning to Freelancers.
For example I used Fiverr a Freelancing site to have a radio commercial created for advertising my website, it turned out great, The guy that did it is radio broadcaster and offered up his skills for people to pay a small fee for and deliver what they need.
The list is endless with the type of Freelancers available. You could be one and show your skills and make a nice side income source from it.
Iwriter– a great site that connects you with writers for hire or you can become one yourself
Appen – a good place to get a nice paying gig online, you can find many great opportunities here
Upwork– Another Freelancing site with some very skilled members
Fiverr –A nice place to get set up with offering your skills to the world or having someone help you out with your latest need
If you do not want to deal with updating content and or buying and selling products online, you could certainly try your hand at designing and setting up other people websites.
There is a demand for this since many struggle with the formatting and layouts of a website or
blog. You could use the option above this one to start doing
this by Freelancing on Fiverr.
This can be fun since you create many websites or blogs and can help a customer set up the best user experience for their visitors which will provide a greater chance for success
Then there is the most labor intensive route in my opinion. A retail website. If you like getting your hands on all aspects of buying and selling online, dealing with customers then this is your gig.
You can start with a WordPress site and build it up easily from scratch or try one of the sites. There are a few options that can give you a bit of a push by making it easier for you. The article below lists 5 of the top eCommerce website builders.
Here is an article about top retail website builders for you to look into if you choose this option
I saved the best for last. At least in my opinion it’s the best option. This is the one I use for my business. How does it work? -See A Beginners guide to Affiliate Marketing
In short- Again you are the middle man between a customer and a retailer, You advertise a product or service on your website or blog and when someone clicks on your link it will take them to a retailer website like Amazon or wherever. The customer purchases the item from that retailer site and you the Affiliate Marketer get a commission from the retailer for your efforts,
This is different from the drop shipping option at the top. The difference is you don’t buy or sell anything, you just add content to your site and promote as an affiliate for someone else.
There are Thousands of opportunities as an Affiliate on just about any product you can think of, it is a legitimate way to make a nice living.
1. You never need inventory or costly overhead costs of storing products
2. No dealing with shipping or returns of products
3. You do not have to set up a relationship with suppliers for products- You will however set up an Affiliate relationship with your chosen retailer, so You can advertise their product or service.
4. You make money while you sleep (The internet never sleeps)
These benefits help make this a great option because instead of doing all the work of order products and returns from your visitors you can simply focus on researching more information about your Niche market and providing good quality useful content on your website about it. You grow your brand rather than spending your day ordering or shipping
